Merchants Asked to Report Fake Checks

Authorities are warning Simi Valley merchants to keep an eye out for counterfeit traveler’s checks.
Simi Valley police said area merchants received six bogus Bank of America checks since March 4.
Each check had the account number 800000103, and each check number began with 1562037.
Investigators believe one man, who they described only as Asian and in his mid-30s, is passing the checks.
Officials are urging merchants to examine any traveler’s checks they receive and to contact police at 583-6950 to report any suspicious activity.
