Esperanza 6, Huntington Beach 0--Ricky Leach hit a grand slam in the fourth and Jim Pickel pitched a four-hitter for visiting Esperanza (3-4, 1-0).
Los Alamitos 8, Edison 4--Eric Albright had three hits and two RBIs and Kevin Feterik had two hits, three runs scored and two RBIs for host Los Alamitos (7-1, 1-0).
In the Century League:
Canyon 12, Villa Park 0--Jeff Leuenberger had a a no-hitter broken up in the sixth inning. He finished with six innings pitched, two hits and four strikeouts for visiting Canyon (6-1, 1-0).
Foothill 7, Orange 4--Keton Quigley went two for four with four RBIs, including a two-run single to highlight the Knights’ five-run sixth inning.
In the Empire League:
Katella 2, Kennedy 0--Joe Fraser pitched a three-hitter for Katella (5-1, 1-0).
In the Freeway League:
Buena Park 8, La Habra 6--Neil Flores had two doubles and two RBIs and Daniel Flores pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the seventh to preserve the victory for Buena Park (5-2, 1-0). Sonora 13, Sunny Hills 3--Jeremy Weinberg hit two home runs and had five RBIs, David Miller had four hits and four RBIs and Ryan Owens had four hits for visiting Sonora (4-0-1, 1-0).
In the Golden West League:
Saddleback 1, Santa Ana 0--Joel Ramirez pitched a three-hitter and had seven strikeouts for Saddleback (2-3, 1-0). Ramirez also drove in the game’s only run on a first-inning single.
Westminster 10, Ocean View 2--Matt Poling was two for three with a triple, double and two RBIs for host Westminster (7-1, 1-0).
In the Olympic League:
Brethren Christian 6, Orange Lutheran 4--Brethren Christian (5-1, 1-0) scored four runs in the top of the seventh to take a 6-4 lead. Che Holloway hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the first for Orange Lutheran (2-3, 0-1).
Whittier Christian 3, Cerritos Valley Christian 2 (9)--Chris Vanderhook’s run-scoring double drove in Chris Coppes with the winning run for Whittier Christian (1-5, 1-0).
In the Pacific Coast League:
Aliso Niguel 6, University 3--Scott Fuller went two for four with two RBIs and also pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts for visiting Aliso Niguel (3-4, 1-0).
Costa Mesa 10, Estancia 7 (8 innings)--Costa Mesa scored twice in the seventh inning to tie the score and took the lead with a four-run eighth, highlighted by Matt Broesamle’s two-run home run.
In the Sea View League:
Irvine 4, Santa Margarita 3--Brian Krill pitched a complete-game, giving up seven hits and striking out three for visiting Irvine (3-4, 1-0).
Woodbridge 2, Corona del Mar 1--Darren Cohan hit a home run in the top of the sixth to break a 1-1 tie and Brian Quinn pitched a two-hitter with nine strikeouts for Woodbridge (3-2, 1-0).
