. . . UC Irvine basketball Coach Bill Mulligan ended speculation that he planned to leave the Anteaters for USC, saying, “I think we’ve finally reached the point where the students here care.”
Mulligan, named coach of the year by the Pacific Coast Athletic Assn., said he was looking forward to the opening of the Bren Events Center in January.
