SANTA ANA — An abandoned apartment complex that has been plagued by fire at least three times in the last year was engulfed in flames again Saturday night, Santa Ana Fire Department officials said.
No injuries were reported. Department officials are calling the blaze “suspicious” and are investigating the incident. The building, located on the 2800 block of North Bristol Street at Melody Lane, is being demolished.
The owners of the property, Cooperfellowship, estimated the loss at $4,000.
The blaze was reported around 9:55 p.m., and fire officials battled the fire, which engulfed the first floor of the two-story building, for more than 25 minutes.
Although the vacant building is sometimes used by transients for shelter, fire officials said nobody was in the building at the time of the fire.
