BUENA PARK — A 22-year-old man died early Thursday after he apparently ran a red light in his station wagon and was struck by another vehicle from the side, police said.
The accident occurred at 5:30 a.m. when Luis Velasco of Buena Park was driving south on Stanton Avenue approaching La Palma Avenue, Police Sgt. Lloyd Schwengel said.
As Velasco entered the intersection, a motorist who was heading west on La Palma Avenue rammed into the station wagon, Schwengel said. Velasco was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other driver, who was not cited, did not report any serious injuries.
