Valley NAACP Head Named to Panel

The Rev. Zedar Broadous, president of the San Fernando Valley chapter of the NAACP, was selected by Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky this week to become a member of the county’s Human Relations Commission.
The 18-member commission is charged with attempting to eradicate prejudice and intolerance in the county, including investigating allegations of discrimination and reporting its findings to the Board of Supervisors.
Broadous, a resident of Lake View Terrace, is the publisher of the San Fernando Valley African American Chronicle News, co-pastor of Calvary Baptist of Pacoima Children’s Church and founder of the San Fernando Valley Black Chamber of Commerce.
“We are very pleased to have Rev. Zedar Broadous on the commission,” Yaroslavsky spokesman Joel Bellman said. “He brings a much-needed Valley perspective to the commission.”
