Obituaries : June E. Foster; Pioneer’s Granddaughter

June E. Foster of Ventura, granddaughter of Santa Paula pioneer John Mears, has died at the age of 77.
Foster was born Dec. 28, 1918, in Modesto, to Chester and Nellie Rose, Mears’ daughter. She graduated from Notre Dame College in Belmont and in 1942 moved to Santa Barbara, where she met and married her husband, Walter.
They moved to Ventura in 1946.
Foster is survived by her husband; three sons, Grant Foster, Greg Foster and Brian Foster, all of Ventura; four daughters, Barbara Barry of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Beth Amos, Janice McFadden and Joan Winton, all of Ventura; and seven grandchildren.
Donations may be made to the Livingston Visiting Nurses Assn., Ventura. The rosary will be recited Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Ventura. Interment will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura.
