Just read Mike Downey’s Olympic Myth/Fact piece. Someone should hand him a broom and tell him to get busy.

It seems to me that Mr. Downey is a bit of a hypocrite. He walks the path of political correctness by describing the “tomahawk chop” as insulting to Native Americans, yet he closes his column by insulting Canada and its athletes, who apparently haven’t won enough medals to be considered competitive in the Olympics by Mr. Downey. I guess insults are OK if the target isn’t on a current PC list.

The master of the tongue in cheek, Mike Downey, is upset by another put-on artist, Charles Barkley? The summer doldrums must have gotten to Mike. Sir Charles is a breath of fresh air in the politically correct NBA. At least he is a character who has some character.
