Leadership Course Needs Participants

The United Way is looking for participants to attend its Ventura County Leadership Academy. The academy is designed to train county residents to be leaders in their communities.
“Hopefully our graduates will be recruited for boards or be inspired to run for office,” said United Way spokeswoman Debbie Giles. “The more educated a citizen is, the more likely they are to become involved.”
Participants will attend one full-day seminar a month for 10 months beginning Sept. 26. The seminars include discussions with key county decision makers, business leaders and other government and private industry officials. Topics include education, housing, environment, agriculture, tourism and health.
Tuition is $750, but scholarships are available. Applications are due Friday at the United Way office in Camarillo. For more information, call 485-6288.
