ANAHEIM — An Interstate Electronics flight management system that uses satellites to track aircraft has been certified by the Federal Aviation Administration, according to Interstate’s parent company, Ohio-based Figgie International Inc.
The system, sold as model IEC 9002 FMS, is designed for aircraft not equipped with a flight management system, or equipped with a long-range navigation system that doesn’t meet the demands of current and future airspace standards, Figgie said.
The system can be installed in older-model aircraft, as well as in new all-digital cockpits.
