Four-Star Films : ‘Destry Rides Again’
This durably amiable 1939 town-taming western teams James Stewart (center) as the pacifist marshal who eschews pistols, and Marlene Dietrich (right) as the risque barroom hostess who’s going to see what the boys in the back room will have. Directed by George Marshall, Destry revived Dietrich’s waning screen career, and her barroom brawl with Una Merkel (left) is a classic (AMC Monday at 5 and 9 p.m.).
