The Pasadena Art Space, a new municipal visual and performing arts space financed through Pasadena’s 1% for Public Art Program, will open Sept. 5 with a group exhibition featuring works by artists including Walter Askin, Rosalie Ortega, Patricia Sims and Frank Williams.
Performances by Djo-Gbe Dance of the First Morning, Dave Beadle, Beth Romans, Cameron Silver and others will take place during the opening reception, from 6 to 9 p.m.
The arts program in Pasadena and some other cities requires developers to set aside 1% of funds to spend on public art.
The Pasadena area, at the Holly Street Village Apartments at 155 E. Holly St., will be open Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 6 p.m and Thursdays from noon to 9 p.m.
Performing arts events will be scheduled on Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons.
Artists interested in exhibiting there should apply with the city of Pasadena at (818) 683-6770.
