Datametrics Corp., a Woodland Hills maker of high-speed computer printers and other computer products, reported wider losses in its fiscal third quarter as well as the past nine months.
In the three months ended July 28, Datametrics lost $2.83 million, compared to a $2.17-million loss a year earlier. It registered the bigger loss despite its quarterly revenue rising 24%, to $5.93 million from $4.79 million.
Datametrics said the loss in the latest quarter resulted largely from high engineering, research and development expenses and continued heavy investment in sales and marketing. It also cited lower-than-expected sales of a new digital commercial printer.
In the recent nine-month period, the company lost $8.18 million, while its revenue grew 18%, to $14.3 million. A year before, it lost $6.22 million on revenue of $12.1 million.
