20 in GOP Expected to Back Clinton

ANAHEIM — About 20 prominent Republicans from across California today are scheduled to announce their support for the reelection of President Clinton, who is expected to visit Orange County on Thursday, campaign officials said.
Among the Republicans pledging allegiance to Clinton and Vice President Gore are two mayors, two city council members and several top business executives, campaign officials said.
The Clinton-Gore campaign staff also will release a list of more than 700 California Republicans who support the Democratic ticket.
The announcement will take place in the county that is traditionally California’s greatest Republican stronghold.
Campaign officials have not released information on where the president will appear or whether the event will be public.
Clinton is scheduled to visit Orange County following a second presidential debate with GOP candidate Bob Dole in San Diego.
