A Simi Valley man suspected of having three wives was jailed Monday after one of them turned him in, sheriff’s deputies reported.
Investigators arrested Lloyd Wetzel, 29, after an unidentified Moorpark woman married to him reported her suspicions.
Although the woman is married to Wetzel, she did not live with him, Det. Ron Nelson said.
“We did some interviews and checked public records and determined that there are three marriages,” said Nelson, who declined to identify any of the women involved because the investigation is still open.
“We’ve found them, and they’re a little upset,” he said. “I consider this a serious felony.”
The other two wives also live in California, but Nelson declined to specify where.
Wetzel is being held at Ventura County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bail, Nelson said. He is expected to be arraigned on bigamy charges in Ventura County Municipal Court.
