Firefighters to Give Blood for Colleagues

Firefighters will be rolling up their sleeves today to give blood for firefighters injured in the Malibu wildfires.
Fire departments in Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach and Fountain Valley plan to donate blood from 2 to 7:15 p.m. at the Joint Powers Training Center, 18301 Gothard St., Huntington Beach. The public may also give blood.
The American Red Cross and the Santiago 100th Basic Fire Academy are sponsoring the event. Donors must be 17 or older, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health and not at risk for HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.
