Courts Honored for 2 Innovative Programs

The Judicial Council of California has presented a special award to the Ventura County Superior and Municipal courts in recognition of two programs designed to improve public services.
The courts launched a weekly Pro Per Clinic in September to assist individuals with family law matters, such as divorce, child custody and restraining orders. The free clinic is held every Tuesday evening at the courthouse.
More recently, the courts installed a “QuickCourt” computer kiosk in the Ventura Courthouse law library. The kiosk provides blank and prepared court forms for small claims and family law matters for a nominal fee.
The Judicial Council cited these programs--which are among the first of their kind in the state--as being innovative enhancements to the county’s courts.
The award was presented to Presiding Superior Court Judge Robert Bradley, courts Executive Officer Sheila Gonzalez and Thousand Oaks family law attorney Susan Witting during a recent conference in San Francisco.
