Saddleback Dominates Baseball Tournament

Ryan Ruiz had four hits, including a double, as host Saddleback completed an impressive weekend with a 13-5 victory over Bakersfield in the Casey Stengel baseball tournament on Sunday.
Saddleback, which had 18 hits in the game, outscored four opponents, 48-10, in the round-robin tournament.
Danny Rivas and Lars Birkeland each had three hits and Rivas, who homered, had three runs batted in for Saddleback (11-0). Greg Ferrell had a double and home run for the Gauchos.
In another Casey Stengel tournament game:
Rancho Santiago 7, Los Angeles Valley 4--Kevin Burford, a freshman outfielder from Fountain Valley High, hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning to give Rancho Santiago a 5-1 lead. It was his Orange County-leading fifth homer of the season.
Rick Gonzalez and Kevin Duck each had three hits, including a double, and Josh Reding had three singles for Rancho Santiago (11-1).
In the Cy-Coast tournament:
Cypress 12, Canyons 4--Jason Hoffman doubled to score Randy Case from third to break a 4-4 tie for Cypress in the top of the eighth. The Chargers (13-2) scored seven runs in the ninth.
Junior Rodriguez had three hits, including a two-run single in the ninth, and Craig Kuzmic had three hits, drove in one and scored three runs for Cypress.
Matt Roman had a two-run single in the ninth for Cypress.
Southwestern 10, Golden West 2--It was the worst loss of the year for Golden West, which had lost its previous four games by a combined six runs. Kevin Stuart had an RBI single and Ken Sundstrom had two hits for Golden West.
In the Victor Valley tournament:
Fullerton 9, Grossmont 6--Ray Kennedy struck out 10 in eight innings to improve to 3-1 for Fullerton (11-3). Nick Garcia and Keith Jones each had three hits and two RBIs and Eric Bondurant had three hits, including a triple and drove in a run for Fullerton.
Bondurant had two doubles and drove in two runs as Fullerton beat Cerro Coco, 9-1, on Sunday. Rick Parmenter (3-0) gave up three hits and a run in the seven innings for Fullerton.
In the Chargers softball tournament:
Cypress 2, Long Beach 0--Jill Tantardini had a two-run single in the first for Cypress (14-1) in the championship game.
