Preview Center for Aquarium Opens

It didn’t take much to sell 3-year-old Drew Daley on Long Beach’s upcoming Aquarium of the Pacific.
A life-size poster of a mean-looking hammerhead shark did it for him. That, and a miniature seascape low enough for him to poke at inside the aquarium’s new preview center.
Likewise, center organizers are counting on visitors to use their imagination until the aquarium’s scheduled opening next year.
Seven small fish are the only marine life inside the preview center, which opened amid much fanfare Tuesday across the street from a Pine Avenue seafood restaurant. The exhibit consists mainly of models of the aquarium and a proposed waterfront development.
