Access Road to Open to Freeway

SAUGUS — Residents of Santa Clarita, especially those living in the Saugus area, will be getting another badly needed access road to the Antelope Valley Freeway next month, Los Angeles County Supervisor Mike Antonovich’s office announced Tuesday.
A one-mile stretch of road connecting Plum Canyon Road to Whites Canyon Road will open May 5, joining Bouquet Canyon Road--one of the city’s busiest thoroughfares--to the freeway.
Financed by the county and local Bridge and Thoroughfare District, the $7-million road connection was delayed from its scheduled completion date in 1994 by the discovery of an ancient landslide, according to city spokeswoman Gail Ortiz.
