San Jose Bullpen Again Provides Relief Only for the JetHawks, 6-5

LANCASTER — The Lancaster JetHawks’ success against the San Jose Giants’ bullpen continued Monday night, when a two-run home run by Joe Mathis and back-to-back triples by Chris Dean and Miguel Correa keyed a five-run eighth inning in a 6-5 victory before 3,282 at the Hangar.
The JetHawks (12-13) scored two runs in 18 1/3 innings against Giants’ starters in the three-game series, but 15 in seven innings against relievers.
The Giants pulled within a run in the ninth on a two-out, two-run home run by pinch-hitter Mark Gulseth against Joe Victery (2-1). After an error by shortstop Luis Molina and a single, Allan Westfall came in and retired Mike Caruso for his third save.
JetHawk starter Damaso Marte gave up two runs in six innings.
The JetHawks begin a three-game series against Bakersfield at 7:15 tonight at the Hangar.
