Vyas, Chang Help Sunny Hills Turn Back Corona del Mar

Raj Vyas returned from a back injury to team with Tuji Chang to sweep their doubles sets and help host Sunny Hills, ranked sixth in the county, defeat third-ranked Corona del Mar, 11-7, in a nonleague boys’ tennis match Wednesday.
Vyas and Chang won, 6-4, 6-2, 7-5, and Chris Chung also swept in singles, 6-1, 6-1, 6-1, for the Lancers (10-3). Corona del Mar is 10-6.
In the Orange League:
Valencia 11 1/2, Savanna 9 1/2--Mike Kamachi and Tom Yee won their final doubles set, 6-3, to clinch the victory for host Valencia (4-3 in league). Chris Tobolski swept his singles sets, 6-4, 6-1, and teamed with Brian Park to win in doubles, 7-6.
In the Sea View League:
Newport Harbor 9, El Toro 9 (Newport Harbor wins on games, 77-69)--Scott Sims won all three of his matches, 6-3, 6-3, 6-0, and the doubles team of Dustin Cook and Tennyson Oyler won two matches, 4-6, 6-3, 6-0, for Newport Harbor (4-13, 1-6).
In nonleague golf:
El Dorado 209, Tustin 222--Senior Mike Cleveland shot a four-under 32 at Tustin Ranch for visiting El Dorado (14-4). Cleveland birdied four of the first six holes, had no bogeys and only 11 putts. Corey Fox shot one-over 37 for the Golden Hawks.
In the Golden West League softball:
Ocean View 2, Saddleback 0--Sara Gulla pitched a three-hitter and struck out 10 for Ocean View (12-7, 5-0), which got only two hits off Lindsey Buendia. Saddleback is 3-12, 1-4.
Tustin 14, Santa Ana 1 (5, mercy)--Sarah Montes had four hits, four runs and an RBI, and Lisa Jurado had two hits and four RBIs for Tustin (7-13, 2-3).
In the Sea View League:
El Toro 2, Irvine 1 (8)--Rachael Wennekamp, who doubled home the tying run in the sixth, singled home Anne Skidmore from second with two outs in the bottom of the eighth for No. 5 El Toro (19-5-1, 4-1). Suzanne Guy allowed one earned run, five hits and struck out five for the host Chargers.
Santa Margarita 9, Corona del Mar 2--Jesseka Bartholomew’s two-run home run in a five-run fifth inning led Santa Margarita (13-7-1, 2-3). Danielle Rodriguez threw a four-hitter and struck out nine.
Woodbridge 12, Newport Harbor 0--Nichole Thompson had three hits and Traci Alcaraz pitched a two-hitter for No. 3 Woodbridge (24-2, 5-0).
In the South Coast League:
Mater Dei 21, Capistrano Valley 1--Jaimie Bagnall had a third-inning grand slam and Kelsey Kollen and Shealee Dunavan were each five for six for No. 4 Mater Dei (19-3, 5-0).
San Clemente 2, Dana Hills 0--Stephanie Swenson (11-7) pitched a no-hitter, struck out nine and walked none, and Jessica Hellyer had two hits and four stolen bases for San Clemente (12-8, 4-1).
In the Freeway League:
Sunny Hills 99, Buena Park 87--The 400 freestyle relay team of Hiro Sakoda, Alex Stupin, Jimmy Chon and Jerry Chang won with a time of 3 minutes 25.9 seconds for Sunny Hills (6-3, 5-0), which led by six points before the race.
In the Sea View League:
Santa Margarita 98, Corona del Mar 72--Philippe Demers finished first in the 200 freestyle (1:47.96) and 50 freestyle (21.6), and Frank Uxa won the 200 individual medley (1:59) and 500 freestyle (4:49.39) for third-ranked Santa Margarita.
Kawika Tarayao finished first in the 100 backstroke (56.11) and was on the winning 200 medley relay team (1:44.67) for sixth-ranked Corona del Mar.
In Century League girls’ swimming:
Foothill 85, Canyon 85--Shannon Locks won the 100 breaststroke in an All-American time (1:08.03) and also won the 200 individual medley (2:14.87) for host Foothill (3-1-1 in league), which rallied to earn a tie.
Villa Park 116, El Modena 41--Fifth-ranked Villa Park (10-0, 5-0) clinched its fifth league title in six years. Kristen Conklin won the 100 freestyle (59.23) and the 100 breaststroke (1:14.07), Kimber Davis won the 200 freestyle (2:10.53) and the 100 backstroke (1:05.20) and Jessica Klugman won the 50 free (25.58) and 100 butterfly (1:05.58).
In the Pacific Coast League:
Laguna Hills 93, Aliso Niguel 77--Shauna Barnard won the 200 freestyle (1:55.45) and the 100 butterfly (59.63) for Laguna Hills (9-2, 5-0). Alicia Thornton won the 100 breaststroke (1:13.50) for Aliso Niguel (4-1 in league).
In Sea View League boys’ track and field:
Woodbridge 69, Newport Harbor 67--The 1,600 relay team of Doug Allan, Orin Masserman, Josh Taylor and Will Stovall won in three minutes 30 seconds to clinch the victory for Woodbridge (3-5, 2-3), which trailed by three points before the race.
In the South Coast League:
Dana Hills 109, San Clemente 27--Steve Anstead finished first in the 100 (10.9), 200 (22.7), long jump (19-8 1/2) and triple jump (42-5 1/2) for Dana Hills (6-1, 4-1).
In Golden West League girls’ track and field:
Rosary 84, Westminster 51--Rosary won its first league title as Gianna Laiola won the 400 meters in 61.4 and Michelle Hamilton finished first in the 200 and 400 for Rosary.
Tustin 69, Santa Ana 66--Truc Tran won the 400 (one minute, two seconds), the 800 (2:29.5) and the 1,600 (5:32.7) for Tustin (3-4, 3-2).
In the Sea View League:
Santa Margarita 99, Corona del Mar 36--Amanda Shanklin won three events to lead second-ranked Santa Margarita (4-1). Shanklin won the 100 (12.5 ht), the long jump (16-9 1/2) and the triple jump (37-1).
Woodbridge 79, Newport Harbor 61--Megan McQuaid won the 400 (one minute, 1.4 seconds), the 300 hurdles (49.3), the long jump (16 feet, three inches) and the triple jump (35-10 1/2) for Woodbridge (7-0, 5-0). Jackie Dix won the 100 (12.0) and the 200 (25.0) for the Warriors.
In the South Coast League:
Mission Viejo 101, Trabuco Hills 34--Ashley Bethel won the 100 (12.0), the 100 hurdles (14.1) the high jump (5-2) and the long jump (17-0 3/4) to lead fourth-ranked Mission Viejo (5-0).
In Empire League boys’ volleyball:
Cypress 3, Loara 0--Richard Wynder had eight kills and four blocks and Miguel Flores had 10 assists in the last game for Cypress (9-4, 6-3), which won, 15-0, 15-6, 15-8.
El Dorado 3, Valencia 0--Matt Peacock had 21 kills and Britt Galand contributed 50 assists as El Dorado (13-2, 9-0) clinched first with a 15-8, 15-10, 15-6 victory. Valencia drops to 12-6, 8-2.
In the Garden Grove League:
Bolsa Grande 3, Santiago 0--Chris Porter had seven aces for Bolsa Grande (14-2, 10-0), which has won 14 consecutive matches.
In the Golden West League:
Westminster 3, Santa Ana 0--Junior Tau and Jared Barnes had 12 kills each for Westminster (7-9, 2-6), which won, 19-17, 15-9, 15-1.
In the Pacific Coast League:
University 3, Laguna Hills 1--David Lin had 13 kills and Danny Peykoff contributed 10 for University (8-5, 4-3), which won, 15-12, 15-17, 15-13, 15-7.
