Boys and Girls Club to Expand Facility

One might think that Lou Danzler, the youngest of 23 brothers and sisters, would want an adult life far removed from children. Instead, Danzler has chosen a career surrounded by youngsters. As president of the Challengers Boys and Girls Club in South-Central Los Angeles, he oversees up to 5,000 children a year ages 6 to 17.
Tuesday, Danzler and the club took a step toward serving more children as he hosted a groundbreaking that will more the double the size of the 22,00-square-foot facility on Vermont Avenue near 50th Street. The addition is expected to be completed by May 1998.
