Chairman and Chief Executive Eric Schmidt told an industry conference in New York that the networking firm isn’t for sale, trying to quell speculation it might be bought by International Business Machines Corp. Britain’s Grand Metropolitan unit Burger King, the nation’s second-biggest hamburger chain, was expected to announce today that it is adding a Big King sandwich to its regular menu to compete with the Big Mac from industry leader McDonald’s. Miami-based Burger King declined to give specifics about the product plans, but a franchisee said the Big King will have 75% more beef--5.6 ounces versus 3.2 ounces--than the Big Mac. . . . Retailers Sears, Roebuck & Co. and Montgomery Ward & Co. won approval of an agreement settling charges that Sears lured away managers from its struggling Chicago-based competitor, lawyers involved in the case said. The agreement bars Hoffman Estates, Ill.-based Sears from recruiting salaried managers at Montgomery Ward while the closely held company is in Bankruptcy Court proceedings.
