Bullfrog update--The Bullfrogs have advanced to their second consecutive Murphy Cup finals and might have B.J. MacPherson back. He dislocated an ankle 2 1/2 weeks ago. The Bullfrogs could use him because one of their leading scorers, Todd Wetzel, left the team before the second game of the Western Conference semifinal at San Jose to play ice hockey in Europe. Victor Gervais had three goals and five assists in the series with San Jose, which the Bullfrogs won by taking the mini-game, 2-0. Goaltender David Goverde has replaced veteran Rob Laurie.
Rockin’ Roller update--Goaltender Nick Vitucci has been hot. He shut down the high-scoring defending Murphy Cup-champion Orlando Jackals in the Eastern Conference semifinal, turning aside 13 shots in the deciding mini-game. Former Bullfrog Glenn Stewart was traded to New Jersey in early August, and he scored the winning goal in the mini-game. Both teams finished second in their divisions. The second game of the finals, and a mini-game, if needed, will be played at 4 p.m. Sunday in New Jersey.
