Taiwan Separatists Given a Warning

China warned Taiwan against separatist moves after a pro-independence party won local elections, reminding Taiwan it would still use force to block any attempt by the island to go its own way. “We will work hard for the peaceful reunification of the motherland, but we will not renounce the use of force,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Tang Guoqiang said, in Beijing’s first reaction to an independence-minded party’s victory in Taiwan local elections over the weekend.
