FOUNTAIN VALLEY — CAM Data Systems, which designs and services accounting software systems, said net income for fiscal 1997 declined to $177,000, or 8 cents a share, from $840,000, or 39 cents a share, for the prior year. Sales for the year ended Sept. 30 were up 11% to $17.5 million from $15.7 million. Earnings for the fourth quarter declined to $28,000, or 1 cent a share, from $224,000, or 10 cents a share, for the year-earlier period. Revenue rose 12% to $4.7 million from $4.2 million.
The company attributed the decline to higher costs of building, delivering and installing new systems for more diverse and complex operations.
