Transient Arrested in Anaheim Fatal Beating

ANAHEIM — Detectives arrested a transient they say beat a woman he knew to death Saturday, dumped her body in an alley and then called police to tell them about it anonymously.
The woman, a 43-year-old transient, had a fractured skull, broken ribs and extensive internal injuries when officers found her body about 6:30 a.m. behind the Mexi Casa restaurant, 1776 W. Lincoln Ave., police said. Her name is being withheld until relatives are notified.
After officers went to investigate the call about the woman, they stopped Elliott Grover Williams, 45, walking away from the area. He later admitted knowing the woman and being the caller, detectives said.
Investigators determined Williams and the woman had a history of domestic violence and that he had rented a room at the nearby Kettle Motor Hotel, police said. A search there produced evidence linking him to the killing, and detectives believe he killed the woman elsewhere on Friday, then possibly brought her to the motel room in a shopping cart before dumping the body, police said.
Williams was arrested on suspicion of murder and is being held without bond in the Anaheim jail.
