Macromedia to Purchase 12 N.J. Newspapers

HACKENSACK, N.J. — Macromedia Inc., parent company of The Record of Hackensack, is purchasing the daily North Jersey Herald & News of Passaic and 11 weeklies in northern New Jersey from a subsidiary of Denver-based Media-

News Inc. group. No sales price was disclosed.

All the newspapers will continue to operate independently, although some administrative functions of the two dailies may be combined, said Jonathan Markey, president of The Record.
