Gillette Consultant Facing 10 Charges

Bloomberg News

A man whose company was hired by Boston-based Gillette Co. to help it develop a new shaving system was charged with stealing Gillette’s trade secrets, the U.S. attorney’s office said. Steven Davis, 47, an engineer at Wright Industries Inc., was also charged with mail fraud in a 10-count criminal indictment by a federal grand jury in Nashville. Wright, a designer of manufacturing equipment, is based in Nashville. In February and March, Davis disclosed some technical drawings of Gillette’s new shaving system to its competitors by fax or electronic mail, federal prosecutors said. Warner-Lambert Co., Societe Bic and American Safety Razor Co. received copies of the drawings, they said. Gillette, which makes Sensor razors and Braun appliances, said it’s cooperating with the investigation.
