3 Sites Studied for Possible Rail Station

A 10-year-old idea to put the city on the MetroLink map is moving slowly toward reality.
City Council members Monday got their first look at a study commissioned in November to look at three possible sites for a rail station.
The $75,000 study reviews potential sites along the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad at two points on Dale Street and at a third site at Beach Boulevard and Cascade Way. “Each one has its good side and its bad side,” Mayor Art Brown said.
Selection of the site will not be made for several months, officials said. A final vote on having a train station at all has yet to be taken. Most council members appear to support the idea.
Council members asked for changes to the report. The revised plan will be available to the public within 30 days, said Paul De Pietro, public works operation manager.
