Firefighters to Get Send-Off on Monday

The Fire Department will host a send-off Monday for personnel attending the annual Fallen Firefighters Memorial service in Emmitsburg, Md.
A color guard from the department will escort the families of firefighters killed in the line of duty and participate in a worship service. The department representatives will be in Maryland, home of the Fallen Firefighters Memorial and the National Fire Academy, Oct. 3 to 7.
The memorial was unveiled in 1981 and dedicated to the nation’s career and volunteer firefighters who have died in line of duty.
Monday’s send-off is at noon at Fire Station No. 5, 2450 Vanguard Way. The public is invited.
