Mile Square Park Site for Special Olympics

Mile Square Regional Park will host Special Olympics championships in three sports Oct. 4 and 5.
Southern California finals in softball, bowling and roller skating are among the activities, spokesman Michael Fitzpatrick said.
About 950 athletes are expected, 130 of whom are from Orange County. Opening ceremonies are Oct. 4 at 9 a.m.
Southern California Special Olympics, based in Culver City, serves more than 13,000 athletes in 19 sports.
Events both days run from 9 a.m. to about 5 p.m. All events are free to the public.
