Surrogate Gives Birth to Quadruplets

A surrogate mother from Cypress gave birth to quadruplet girls at a Long Beach hospital, but officials Friday declined to release details about the births at the patient’s request.
The children were born Thursday at Long Beach Community Medical Center.
The quadruplet birth is believed to be among the first involving a surrogate at the hospital.
Hospital spokeswoman Rachelle Cunningham said the patient has requested that no information be released to the media, including whether the babies are healthy.
Officials also have withheld the names of the surrogate and the parents of the children.
