One-Stop Shopping for Mayan Tours

An unusual alliance of eight private travel agencies in five countries, aided by Continental Airlines, is creating “one-stop shopping” for travelers interested in exploring Mayan ruins throughout Central America.
Working through Gurnee, Ill.-based MILA, a 17-year-old cultural tour agency, tourists and travel agents can call a toll-free number, (800) 367-7378, to design individual or group itineraries involving any or all of five countries: Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Belize. MILA President C. Luis Vasquez said daily land costs for the “Maya Path Adventures” program are about $120 to $140 per person, double occupancy.
