Diamonds in Distress

More on “Seat Pouch Surprises” (Letters, March 22): A friend, on a tiring trip back from overseas, felt her $1,200 diamond earrings were pinching. So she neatly wrapped them in a tissue and tucked them into the seat pouch for safe keeping.
She and her husband were at the car, stowing the luggage, when she remembered how safe her earrings were. The sprint back was not quick enough to beat the plane cleaners, who most probably tossed a folded tissue ASAP.
That was more shock than surprise. Be wary of the seat pouch.
