San Clemente Starts Well but Is Beaten by Punahou

Things started well but didn’t end that way for San Clemente as the Tritons lost to Punahou, 25-9, in a season-opening football game early Saturday at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu.
San Clemente led, 9-0, at the end of the first quarter but didn’t score again. Kaleo McCabe of Punahou scored on a 35-yard run in the third quarter to give his team the lead for good.
Punahou also scored on a 45-yard fumble return in the fourth quarter.

Nicholas Bollini of Yorba Linda shot a three-over 75 and fell five shots off the lead at the Phoenix Junior Championship, conducted by the American Junior Golf Assn. at Arizona State University’s par-72 Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Ariz.
Bollini has a two-day total of 147. Mike Lavery of Irvine shot 77 and Brian Sinay of Irvine shot 79. Both are at 151.
Candie Kung of Fountain Valley shot a four-over 76 and is at 149, six shots of the lead in the girls’ division.
