LONG BEACH — Police arrested a 21-year-old suspected gang member Thursday in connection with a shooting in Long Beach that left one man dead and another wounded.
Shamone Rogers, of Compton, was booked for murder after Wednesday evening’s shooting at a house in the 6500 block of Orizaba Avenue, said Long Beach police spokeswoman Karen Owens. Rogers, who was on parole, was denied bail.
Detectives believe that Rogers drove by the home and shot through the front screen door, fatally hitting one man in the back and striking another in the right thigh, Owens said.
Both victims were taken to Lakewood Regional Memorial.
Police withheld the names of the victims, who were both 21 years old, but said they believe both were gang members.
