Q: How did you feel about the attention given to Washington State’s high-powered offense?

A: “We knew it was our responsibility to come out and put points on the board because we knew Ryan Leaf was going to come out and make a lot of plays.”

Q: What did you say to your father, Bob, when you embraced after the game?

A: “It wasn’t much of a conversation. I was kind of choked up. I told him I love him and he told me he loves me.”

Q: Washington State’s 398 total net yards far exceeded the average of 206.9 yards per game Michigan’s top-ranked defense had yielded. Were you disappointed with the defense?

A: “When you take a team that’s scoring 42 points a game and hold them to [16] points, that’s a pretty good game.”

Q: What was the most exciting moment?

A: “When we came out on the field and heard the fans hollering and screaming. I got chills. That’s when we knew we were in the Rose Bowl and that’s what a national championship is all about.”
