PUNT-ILIOUS

Regarding the answer to the 39 Across clue “Punt Pusher” in last Sunday’s Puzzler:

When venturing into English sports and pastimes, I do wish Barry Tunick and Sylvia Bursztyn would seek advice. An oar can no more push a punt than can a fish push a bicycle.

Whilst I am sensible that we (Brits and Yanks) are a people separated by a common language, I do take exception to this “oaring around” with my portion of the language.

I stand ready to provide the correct answer to the clue at the rate of 95 cents per minute, including a brief outline of the sport of punting and where it can be seen in the United Kingdom and the United States.
