Bus Bomb Death Toll at 32; 300 Injured

The death toll after a bus packed with at least two shrapnel-laden bombs exploded outside a crowded train station in Colombo, the capital, rose to at least 32 people. More than 300 were reported injured. The Defense Ministry said that senior government officials were the target but that the bombs went off prematurely. The government blamed rebels seeking an independent homeland for the Tamil minority. The bus driver--believed to be a suicide bomber--was among the dead.
