La Palma Driver Hits Tree, Dies

LA PALMA — A 78-year-old man died Sunday after his vehicle slammed into a tree.
Frank J. Medvedik of La Palma was pronounced dead at La Palma Intercommunity Hospital at 1:45 p.m., about 45 minutes after the crash.
Medvedik was driving about 40 mph in the 7800 block of Walker Street when the vehicle veered left and crashed into a large ornamental tree, said Police Sgt. Eric R. Nunez.
Paramedics reported that Medvedik was wearing his seat belt and the vehicle’s air bags had been deployed, Nunez said.
Nunez said he did not know whether Medvedik had a medical condition that could have been a factor in the accident.
