Woman Killed as Truck Overturns on Freeway

An 18-year-old Compton woman died Sunday after a weekend incident in which the driver of the car she was riding in lost control of the vehicle because he was allegedly drunk, the California Highway Patrol said.
Authorities said Andre Maurice Jones, 22, of Long Beach was driving on the San Gabriel River Freeway about 9:45 p.m. Saturday when his car veered across two lanes of traffic and flipped over several times near the Azusa Road offramp.
Jones, who suffered minor injuries in the crash, was being held on suspicion of felony manslaughter, said CHP Officer Karen Faciane.
The woman’s name was withheld pending notification of her family, Faciane said.
