Donations are being accepted by Ventura High to finance the entry of Cristobal Gonzalez in the National High School Wrestling Championships on March 27-29 at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.
Gonzalez, a senior who wrestles at 189 pounds, qualified for the national meet by winning a state title last week in Stockton.
Last year, 676 wrestlers competed from 46 states.
The top eight placers will be declared All-Americans.
Donations should be sent to Ventura High, care of wrestling Coach Paul Clementi.

Making her point: Alemany High fans had plenty to cheer about but the loudest applause during the Indians’ 87-59 first-round state playoff victory over Shafter on Tuesday night came when sophomore Julie Mullins made the second of two free throws with 21 seconds left.
It was Mullins’ first point of the season.
Mullins didn’t play all season because of a knee injury until she replaced senior guard Kelli Kobayashi with 15 seconds left in the Indians’ Southern Section Division III-AA title-game victory over La Puente on Saturday.
Against Shafter, Mullins relieved Kobayashi with 55 seconds left and her free throw accounted for Alemany’s final point.
