RAMALLAH, West Bank — A car packed with explosives blew up Sunday night in a deserted industrial zone in the West Bank city of Ramallah, killing one man. Police suspected the vehicle had been prepared for use in a terrorist attack.
The blast destroyed the building in which the car was apparently parked, blowing off its concrete roof and catapulting its heavy iron door 130 feet.
The white Peugeot, bearing no license plates, was a crumpled wreck. A charred body lay beside it.
Radio reports first said two men were believed killed, but later changed that to one. The initial reports also said there had been injuries, but area hospitals said no wounded had been brought in.
