The foundation organizing the seventh annual Race for the Cure, which raises money for breast cancer research, is seeking volunteers for the September event.
The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation needs more than 1,400 volunteers for the race, scheduled Sept. 27 in Newport Beach. Last year’s Orange County race, with 16,000 participants, raised $577,000.
The foundation’s goals this year are 25,000 participants and $800,000 in donations. Volunteers need no experience, but officials say the event is an opportunity for those touched by breast cancer--or anyone else--to work toward eradicating the disease.
