Shooting at Campus Spurs Gang Awareness Program

School district and city and county officials will host a gang awareness and prevention workshop tonight for students, parents, teachers and community members.
Culver City Unified School District Supt. Laura Plasse said the meeting was prompted by a gang-related shooting April 22 in which two boys who were not students at the school were wounded outside Culver City High School.
Two minors have been arrested in connection with the shooting, and police are still seeking a third suspect, said Lt. Ray Scheu of the Culver City Police Department.
Plasse said the purpose of the workshop, which will feature representatives of citywide anti-gang organizations, is to educate people about how to protect their children from gang involvement and discuss measures to prevent gang activity in the school system.
The meeting, jointly sponsored by Supervisor Yvonne Brathwaite Burke and the City Council, will be held at 7 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Auditorium, 4117 Overland Ave.
