Campaign Probe Targets School Board Member

The Fair Political Practices Commission has accused Lynwood Unified School District board member Cynthia Green-Geter of six counts of failing to submit timely election campaign disclosure statements.
The commission’s complaint involves documents listing campaign contributions that Green-Geter was required to submit under California’s Political Reform Act when she ran for the school board in 1995 and then during an unsuccessful bid for the state Assembly in 1996.
Green-Geter and her campaign committees are accused of failing to submit three disclosure statements and filing three others late, one of them nearly two years late. She faces a maximum fine of $12,000 if an administrative law judge finds her guilty on all six counts. A hearing date is to be set.
Green-Geter said Monday that she had assumed that her campaign manager would submit the disclosure statements on time, but that she accepted responsibility for their lateness.
“I had a campaign manager who failed to follow through on the paperwork that needed to be done,” she said. “[But] in all reality, I am responsible because the papers were not filed.”
Green-Geter also said she believes she recently filed the three statements.
