Police are searching for two 15-year-old boys who used a ladder to escape from Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall, authorities said Thursday.
The boys escaped about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday from the facility on Quill Drive, said Craig Levy, a Los Angeles County Probation Department spokesman.
The facility houses about 700 inmates ranging in age from 9 to 18.
Levy said confidentiality laws prevented him from releasing the boys’ names or details of why they were being held. But one of the boys is a “high-risk” offender and was wearing an orange jumpsuit when he escaped, Levy said. The other boy was wearing a white T-shirt and dark pants.
The youths were walking back from the facility’s school to its living unit when they took a ladder from a school maintenance area, Levy said.
