The city’s registered voters will decide today whether they approve of the City Council’s recommendation to adopt the “resort development” land use designation for Treasure Island. The nearly 30-acre site is now zoned as “village medium-low density” residential and contains a mobile home park. Voters also will decide whether they approve of the council’s recommendation to amend the zoning ordinance and specific plan to allow a resort community at the site. Neither of the two measures asks for input on the project now proposed, a resort that calls for a 275-room hotel and 31 residential units--17 estate-sized homes and 14 condominiums.
